Golden fossil Whitby fools gold ammonite

Absolutely stunning golden dactylioceras ammonite fossil found near to Whitby on the Jurassic coast in Yorkshire.

I have never seen a Yorkshire ammonite so golden from preservation in pyrite.

This big  ammonite has a perfect centre, it really is a great display piece.

Approximately 180 million years old.
